SUGC GOLFERS ARE PRAISED AT THE YORKSHIRE UNION DINNER

None of these championship wins have previously been reported on our website so we are very pleased to now use this opportunity to share with you their achievements in these county events.

Alex Fitzpatrick (Hallamshire GC) and Nathan Fell (Lees Hall GC pictured above) were joint winners of the Yorkshire Boys Under 16 Amateur Championship in early August with identical scores of 73 and 74 for a one over par total of 147 around the Wetherby Golf Club course. One shot back in third place was Jonathan Thomson (Lindrick GC)

This is the first time since 2008 that a junior golfer from our Union has won this championship.

In the Yorkshire Mid-Amateur Championship held at Rotherham Golf Club in mid-September,Peter Daughtrey (pictured Below) showed the rest of the field a clean pair of heels around his home club as he captured this much coveted title by five clear shots. A best of the morning two under par round of 68 set Peter up well going into the afternoon where his solid round of 71was once again the pick of the bunch.

Congratulations to Alex, Nathan, Peter and all of the other Sheffield Union golfers who have performed so well in Yorkshire County championships in 2012.
