SEMI-FINAL PLACES ARE DECIDED

In the first round, this year’s Mid-Amateur and Stroke Play Champion Shaun Angell (Rotherham GC) came through in his match against Abbeydale’s Tom Perry and 2008 / 2010 Amateur Championship runner-up Ian Clarke (Wath GC) ran out the winner over Andy Herbert (Sandhill GC).

Other players progressing through to the second round were Liam Senior (Lees Hall GC), Karl Baker (Renishaw Park GC), John Bragger (Hillsborough GC), Gary Fullwood (Wath GC ), Ross Mackay (Beauchief GC) and Nathan Rogers (Wortley GC).

In the afternoon second round matches, Liam Senior got the better of Angell and now meets John Bragger in the semi-final after he defeated Karl Baker.

The other semi at Lindrick will be between consistent Gary Fullwood who won his second round match against Mackay and Nathan Rogers who beat his Sheffield Team Captain Ian Clarke.

There is bound to be a new champion’s name on the trophy this year as none of the semi-finalists have tasted success in the Amateur Championship before.
