HIGH FINISH FOR ROTHERHAM IN NATIONAL EVENT

Success in this championship is no stranger to the Thrybergh club after winning the event at Brancepeth Castle in 2005 with the mighty team of Neil Walker, James Mason and Sam Haywood.

Rotherham’s hopes of lifting the trophy again were very much on track after the first round when their team of Jamie Harrison (pictured bottom), Dominic Moon (pictured middle) and Sam Young (pictured top) were handily placed on a combined score of 217, just three shots behind joint leaders, Coventry and Formby Golf Clubs.

Improving their score by three shots in the second round for a final total of 431 (Harrison 145, Moon 144 and Young 142), Rotherham found themselves just a handful of shots shy of the winning post as the team from Walsall GC came through in fine style to win the championship on behalf of the Staffordshire Union of Golf Clubs.
