SHEFFIELD JUNIORS GET THEIR LEAGUE CAMPAIGN OFF TO A FLYING START

On a showery day at Abbeydale Golf Club, the Sheffield youngsters won the morning foursomes matches by 8 points to 4 with the most convincing win coming from Wheatley and Wath Golf Club, Jordan Smith and Nick Poppleton by a score of 5 & 4

In the afternoon, York only managed to win one of the twelve singles matches, with Sheffield coming out on top in eight and the remaining three matches finishing all square.

Six members of the Sheffield Team ended the day with one hundred per cent records after winning both their foursomes and singles matches. They were Ben Brewster (Bawtry GC), Guy Winstanley (Wheatley GC), Keelan Lowe (Wheatley GC), Aaron Nairn (Rotherham GC) and the pair of Smith and Poppleton. Aaron was the star performer in the afternoon with a thumping 7 & 6 victory to his credit.

Overall, this was a very polished 27 points to 9 win by Sheffield Juniors which gives them bags of confidence for their next league match against East Riding Juniors at Worksop Golf Club on Sunday 22^nd April.
