ANOTHER WIN FOR OUR SENIOR YIDU TEAM

Match No5 saw Sheffield hosting Bradford at Doncaster GC. The morning foursomes matches, with the exception of the third match Tom Stanley and Luca Holgate winning 6&5, proved to be very close. However with the exception of a very rare loss by George Mason & George Ash the remaining four pairs all battled to narrow wins. Special credit to the last two matches, Brandon Perry & Jamie Sykes and Steve Bridges & Lee Hopwood who were two and three down respectively early in their matches but battled back to wins.

That gave Sheffield another very good foursomes result, 10pts to 2pts up going into the singles.

Afternoon singles were led out by a very determined George Ash who stormed to an impressive 7&5 win. That was quickly followed by very good wins for George Mason 4&3, Lewis Hollinsworth 6&4, Tom Stanley 6&5 and Jamie Skyes 6&5, the latter of which was making his debut for Sheffield so well done Jamie. Charlie Daughtrey battled to a 1up win and showed great character as he limped around the last nine holes with a foot injury. The remaining six matches were much closely contested. Sheffield won three, Lee Hopwood 2&1, Steve Bridges 2up and Brandon Perry 3&1 with Bradford claiming the other three matches, Luca Holgate 1down, Matt Swindell 2&1 and Ian Clark 2down. Overall singles result was 18pts to 6pts giving Sheffield a final match result of 28pts to 8pts.

Another very impressive performance by the lads so well done to them all.

Thankyou to all the executive that turned up and supported the team : I know that the lads very much appreciate the support. A special mention  also to Ollie Smith who withdrew from the match with an injury yet still made the trip all the way across from Sickleholme to support the team. 

Next match is against York at Hallowes GC on Sun 21st Aug.
