SHEFFIELD PLATE

On an unseasonal like chilly morning 60 golfers arrived at Hallamshire trying to become the 2021 Sheffield Open Amateur Champion. For one player though it was an extra special day, Julian Wood playing on his home course the 2018, & 2019 champion was trying to make it 3 in a row. A terrific second round score of 67 eventually put him just 2 shots behind the leading trio of Hickleton’s Luke Palmowski, Oli Smith (Sickleholme), and George Ash (Hallowes) who finished tied on 140.

So with England’s Euro match looming on the tv we were off into a play-off which was won on the first extra hole by Luke who became our 2021 Sheffield Open Amateur Champion

Congratulations to Luke and our thanks to all who took part, our event sponsors Sheffield Special Steels, and of course all at Hallamshire Golf Club for hosting the event.

We also need to congratulate Wath's Dominic Howell who in the second round had a hole in 1 at the 146 yard 9th.
