Mid-Amateur + Seniors & Vets

Following the heavy rain on Saturday where 40mm fell overnight alone, an early course inspection revealed that although the course was deemed playable the bunkers were not. This resulted in both competitions being changed to non-qualifying.

Mid-Amateur

In the end everyone managed to get around and it was Abbeydale’s Tim Brind who having been runner-up for the last two years returned a 3 under par 68 to become the 2019 Mid-Amateur Champion and winner of the Peter Wharton Trophy. In second place was Richard Clarke from Wheatley on 72 with a better back nine from Tankersley’s Peter Higgins.

Seniors & Veterans

This year’s seniors champion was Andy Crawford from Hallamshire whose two over par 73 was enough to edge out Wheatley’s Alan Robinson on 74, Ian Clarke (Lindrick) was third on 75.

The Veterans champion was Doncaster Town Moor’s Michael Sowerby whose 79 (BB9) just pipped Des Robbins from Tinsley, third was ever young Steve Cammack (Bondhay) on 80

Thanks to those taking part and to all at Lees Hall for ensuring the day went well.
