SECOND WIN FOR OUR YIDU JUNIORS

On a very cold Sunday the Juniors took on the reigning YIDU league Champs Halifax & Huddersfield, this was always going to be a very tough task against a very good team under the guidance of Frank Greaves

After the morning foursomes we led 10 – 2 with some outstanding performances. 2 matches in a row now we have taken the foursomes with the scruff of it’s neck and played really well and we deserved our lead.

All the lads played exceptionally well, we had debutants in Joshua Morley, Sam Fry and Max Whittaker, in the 1st 2 games we now have introduced 7 new players to the squad

1st out was Jack Wilson & Josh Morley who won, as did George Taylor & Freddie Parlby, Jack Whaley & Max Whittaker, Louie Hinchliffe & Sam Fry, Luca Houlgate & Marco Cuartero

The singles teed off, now this at times was a little nail biting, some games were very close at times and it could have gone either way, however the lads pulled through, grounded the scores out and we won 14 points in the afternoon. A special mention must go to Luca Houlgate who with Marco won 8 & 7 in the morning, Luca followed that up with a 7 & 5 win in the afternoon, Sam Fry who was 4 down with 6 to play got a half, he could have actually won it on the 18th.  

In the end an excellent result winning 24-12, well done lads I’m very proud of you all!!

I would also like to thank Frank Houlgate from Waterfront who hosted the event & to Paul Hardstaff, the facilities, the course & the hospitality was second to none and I can’t thank him enough for what he did on the day.
