Cracking win for the Juniors to start the 2019 Yorkshire Inter District season

The junior census we did pre-season is reaping the rewards as there are players out there, we didn’t know about, some of these will be picked for the Junior team and 4 made their debuts against Leeds for our 1st game of the campaign

Years gone by our lads have struggled with foursomes, however, looks like we may have got our heads round this format by winning 10-2 after the morning matches, George Ash hit the 1st shot of the campaign with Captain Jack Wilson holding his nerve on the very last hole holing out from 10 feet to sink a birdie putt to win that pairings match.

The afternoon singles got underway with Josh Berry driving off 1st, taking a 10-2 lead we had to make sure we didn’t let our guard down. They didn’t disappoint in the afternoon, there was some cracking performances where some of the winning margins were 8 & 7 and 6 & 5, the lads who all made their debuts all won taking us to a 19-5 win in the afternoon and a 29-7 win overall against an excellent Leeds side

I am very proud of all the lads on the day, they played excellent golf and conducted themselves brilliantly, after some of them had finished in the afternoon they all came back on to the course to follow and support the last 2 remaining matches I think it wouldn’t be right to single one or more players out on the day as all of them deserve a pat on the back for a job well done.

The team was, Jack Wilson (Captain), Josh Berry, George Taylor, Luke Turner, Jack Whaley, Daniel Burton, George Ash, James Millington, Louie Hinchliffe, Luca Houlgate, Tom Broadley & Freddie Parlby
