STROKE PLAY AND 6-18 STROKE PLAY

With a combined total of over 100 players this year’s stroke play & 6-18 stroke play set a record turnout for individual SUGC competitions. Unfortunately, the weather was not impressed and with raining falling practically from the start things were not looking good. In the end we managed to get the Stroke play completed over 18 holes but the 6-18 had to be reduced to a 9-hole competition due to flooded greens.

The Stroke play Champion for 2018 and winner of the Jack Hulley Trophy with a terrific score of 69 gross was Jon Berrisford from Grange Park, in second place was Sitwell junior George Taylor with an equally impressive 71 (BB6) and in 3rd place was home player Andrew Robinson (71).

The 6-12 Stroke play champion and winner of the Graham Needham Trophy was Hillsborough’s Kevin Wainwright with a 9-hole total of 32 (net) second was Matthew Shaw (33) also from Hillsborough with Hallowes junior Freddie Parlby third on 36

The 13-18 Stroke play champion and winner of the Mike Greave Trophy was Hillsborough’s James Thornber with a 9-hole total of 38 (net), beating Nicholas West from Beauchief on countback with Michael Tompkins (Phoenix) third on 41
