NEW PRESIDENT TAKES OVER

 

Former Hickleton Golf Club Captain and President Jeff Roden was elected 2018 President of the Sheffield Union of Golf Clubs at their Annual Council Meeting held at Rotherham Golf Club

Jeff joined Hickleton in 1983 and over the years has held a number of key roles including Club Captain in 2007, and Club President 2013-2017

In his acceptance speech Jeff said: “It is an honour to become President of the Sheffield Union for both myself and my home club Hickleton.”

“I am looking forward to my year in office and will do all I can to promote the interests of the Sheffield Union and uphold its aims and traditions as well as contributing to its further development.

“I would like to thank everyone once again for their support and look forward to visiting as many of the Union’s clubs as possible during the coming months.”

 

Jeff also thanked outgoing President John Reynard for his lead in another successful year for the union that saw the senior team retain both the county league and team championship. The junior squad also maintained their progress by retaining the Yorkshire junior league and runners up in the team championship.

Wath's Alan Marriott was named President Elect and Neil Leatherland was elected as President Designate.

Also elected to the Executive committee were Mike Slattery (Sitwell Park ) Ian Whitehouse (Sickleholme) Paul Hardstaff (Waterfront) all for a term of 4 years
