Stroke Play from Scratch

1. The Union will hold a competition consisting of 18 holes stroke play to decide the Sheffield Open Champion.
2. The competition shall be open to both Amateurs and Professionals (including Lady Professionals) all of whom shall be attached to Clubs affiliated to the Union. The handicap Index for Amateurs shall not exceed 8.4 and the competition will be limited to 60 entrants divided as equally as possible between amateurs and professionals. If over 60 entrants then we would ballot out by highest handicap.
3. Entries shall be made either on-line via the S.U.G.C. website (Amateurs only) or on the official entry form (downloadable from the website or from the office). The entry must be accompanied by the entry fee.
4. The club professional of all clubs in the Union will be invited by the Union to enter.
5. START TIME - It is the player's responsibility to start at the time established by the Committee. Regulation 14 (SUGC Regulations for all competitions) applies.
6. The player returning the lowest gross score over 18 holes shall be the Open Champion. In the event of a tie for the Championship after 18 holes, those competitors involved will play off hole by hole until a winner is declared. All other players in the play off will be joint runners up.
7. All other ties shall be decided as per Rule 10 in SUGC Regulations for all Competitions.
8. If the winner of the Championship is an Amateur, he will receive the 'Hughes Cup', but if the winner is not an Amateur, the 'Hughes Cup' will be awarded to the leading Amateur after 18 holes. Ties shall be decided as per Rule 10 in Regulations for Competitions.
9. If the winner of the Championship is a Professional, he will receive the 'Lockwood Salver', but if the winner is not a Professional, the 'Lockwood Salver' will be awarded to the leading Professional after 18 holes. Ties shall be decided as per Rule 10 in SUGC Regulations for all Competitions.
10. The Union will award cash prizes to the professionals and appropriate vouchers to amateurs.
