FOLLOW SUGC ON TWITTER

The Twitter feed @SheffGolfUnion will be provide live scores, results and general golf news which it will tweet to its followers.

It will also be used to retweet interesting news from the 41 affiliated clubs, helping them get their messages across to the wider golfing community in the region and beyond.

So if your club has a winter four-ball offer, or your course is open when everybody else is closed, follow us and tweet away.

The union also hopes the new service will be attractive to potential sponsors as it will provide a new means of communicating with the region’s golfers, including the 12,500 who are affiliated to the union through their member clubs.

President of SUGC, Graham Needham, said: “Twitter will provide us with a valuable tool to reach out to the region’s golfing community. We exist to promote amateur golf through organising competitions and encouraging juniors to take up the game. We think Twitter can help us further those objectives and strengthen our position as the hub of the local golfing community.

“Half of our member clubs use Twitter already and we hope they will follow us on our handle @SheffGolfUnion. It may encourage the other half to join us and launch their own Twitter feed.”
