Sheffield Union of Golf Clubs

SUGC ANNUAL DINNER & PRIZE PRESENTATION

Prior to the dinner commencing, an informal ceremony took place in one of the private function rooms to present David Briggs of Renishaw Park Golf Club with his Union colours in recognition of him playing for the Senior Team on the requisite number of occasions.

 

 

 

The after dinner speakers this year were the SUGC President, Trevor Slack, President of the Yorkshire Union of Golf Clubs, Stephen Larard and Past President of the Bolton Golf Association, Derek Jones. Other top table guests were the current President of the Bolton Golf Association and present / past Presidents of the Yorkshire Inter District Unions.

 

 

 

Both Messrs Larard and Slack reflected on the considerable success enjoyed this year by SUGC golfers at national, regional and local level, including Mathew Fitzpatrick (Hallamshire GC) winning the British Boys Championship at Notts GC, Jonathan Thomson (Lindrick GC) winning the North of England Under 16 Open Amateur Championship at Pannal and Rotherham GC winning the Yorkshire Team Championship at Fulford GC

Trevor Slack also took the opportunity to formally announce that Martin Brewis from Wortley GC had been offered and accepted the office of President Designate for 2013. Martin is currently the President of his home club and he will proudly join next year’s SUGC President, Graham Needham from Doncaster GC as the public face of the Sheffield Union of Golf Clubs.
