SUGC JUNIORS DELIVER VICTORY IN A CLOSE MATCH WITH EAST RIDING

On a very pleasant sunny morning the SUGC junior team, containing three debutants and a young man playing only his second game faced a very strong and more experienced East Riding team who based on handicap were the better team

The morning foursomes were very tight with most matches reaching the turn all square but in the second nine the SUGC team showed the benefit of having seen the course previously and came out on top 9 points to 3. Spencer Gill & Sam Peasegood, both making their debut finishing all square and there were 2/1 wins for Presley Allott/Jude Nichols (playing  his second match), and a resounding win 7/5 for the Waterfront Pair of Ethan Clark and Luke Baldwin  (on debut)

The afternoon singles were also going to be close as most matches were very tight with often only the odd hole either way at the halfway stage.

Presley Allott in match 1 had an excellent 3&2 victory over the east Riding number 1 player Luke Thornton. Match 4 saw Spencer Gill almost round off his debut with a chip in birdie at 18 but in the end had to settle for all square and a point. Match 6 saw Callum Burns coming back from 3 down at the turn to record a 3 &1 victory over Dylan Graveling with 3 chip in birdies.

The remaining matches in the most part went the way of SUGC with excellent victories for Joel Johnson 3 & 2, Evan Snook 2 & 1 (playing the back 9 with pain from last seasons back problem), and Luke Baldwin 2 & 1 (rounding off a fine debut) whilst his fellow Waterfront man Ethan Clarke, came back from 2 down with three to play to get a point.

Many thanks to Serlby Golf Club for an excellent well prepared venue and an enthusiastic welcome the boys really appreciated it.

Final result SUGC 23 East Riding 13
