MID-AM / SENIORS & VETS

Mid-Amateur
With the temperature thankfully cooler than of late and the Wath course in fine condition we were in for some competitive golf. In the end two of our YIDU stalwarts ended up on 68, and it was home player Gary Fullwood, making a rare appearance these days who became the 2021 Mid-Amateur Champion and winner of the Peter Wharton Trophy, by winning on the 3rd extra hole by beating Neil Stones. Wath’s Ryan Gill finished 3rd (on count back) with a gross score of 70.

Seniors & Veterans
Following on from the Mid-Amateurs came the Seniors & Vets and this year’s seniors champion was Ian Clarke from Lindrick whose one over par 71 was enough to edge out Wheatley’s Alan Robinson on 74, Sean Needham (Lindrick) was third on countback with 75.

The Veterans champion was Hallamshire’s Malcolm Gregg with a score of 79 just holding off Peter Craig from Tinsley, third was ever young Michael Sowerby from Doncaster Town moor on 82

Thanks to those taking part and to all at Wath Golf Club, particularly Dawn for keeping us fed and watered.
