MATCHPLAY FINALS DAY AT LINDRICK

Match Play Reports from Lindrick 22nd September 2019.

Two very competitive Sheffield Amateur Championship matches started finals day at a showery Lindrick Golf Club. Abbeydale’s Tim Brind overcame strong opposition from home player Ian Clarke in the first Semi Final to win 1up. The second Semi Final was also a close affair with Bawtry’s Brenden Mullins winning 2up over Brandon Perry (Phoenix)

The afternoon Final started with the lead changing hands until Tim finally fought off Brenden to win 2 up. This brings a very successful end of season for Tim winning The Mid- Amateur, Charles A Lockwood Trophy, Golfer of the Year and now Amateur Champion.

The John Jarman Trophy Semi Finals were very competitive with all players playing excellent golf. Jack Greaves (Hallowes) overcame Hickleton’s Max Whittaker and James Millington (Hallowes) beating Wheatley’s Aiden Silman both matches ending 3 and 2.

The all Hallowes Final between Jack and James turned into a very competitive match. Both players playing golf at a very high standard with the lead changing hands regularly. The match was poised in Jack’s favour when he went 2 up with 3 to play. However, James put on a fine display in winning the last 3 holes to win the match 1 up.
