Sheffield Union of Golf Clubs

NEW SPONSORS WELCOMED

Sheffield Union of Golf Clubs is delighted to announce three new sponsors who have joined us this season to help promote amateur golf adding to the recently announced partnership with the Peter Cowen Golf Academy Junior Tour which has helped the Union invest in new team kit, pictured.

Bradfield Brewery, IFM Insurance and Sheffield Pro Golf join another supporter of the union this season, Driving Golf PR & Marketing.

They are very welcome additions to our regular sponsors, The Special Steel Group, Westcourt Financial Services, DC Clarke Roofing and Warwick Ward Machinery.

Sponsors provide the funds necessary to keep the union running, contribute to prize funds, team kits and trophies. They also help the union promote amateur golf in the region and in particular to help us attract new players to take up the sport, particularly juniors.

The union urges affiliated clubs and individual players to support the sponsors and consider using their services.

Each new sponsor is delighted to help the union in its quest of promoting amateur golf.

Bradfield Brewery draws spring water from its own borehole on the rural outskirts of Sheffield to produce a range of award winning cask conditioned real ales and bottled beers. They include favorites such as Farmers Bitter and Farmers Blonde – the ideal summer refresher in the 19th after a round of golf. The Bradfield Brewery team is pictured below.

Director Lisa Moat said: “Bradfield Brewery is proud to sponsor the Sheffield Union of Golf Clubs. We already supply our beers to a number of local clubs in the area and we are delighted to be associated with a sport which shares our philosophy of striving for perfection and producing the best. Good luck to all Sheffield Union golfers over the coming season."

IFM Insurance Ltd, an independent broker based in Sheffield has been supplying insurance services to business and individuals for more than 20 years. Its success stems from its personal, individual approach and in the way it builds relationships with its customers.

Managing Director, Mark Barlow, a single figure golfer at Hallamshire Golf Club said: “It has been great to see the rise of our very own Matt Fitzpatrick who came from the ranks of the Sheffield Union. We are delighted to show our support and hope that others will follow in his footsteps.”

There can’t be any local golfer who doesn’t know of Sheffield Pro Golf, the golf equipment and apparel retailer based in Heeley. For many years the familiar faces of Malcolm Oates and Chris Barker (pictured below with director Peter Richie, right) have guided golfers through the maze of equipment options and we are delighted they have joined the Union as a sponsor.

Peter Ritchie director said: “As one of the most comprehensive and competitive golf equipment and apparel retailers in the region we are delighted to sponsor Sheffield Union of Golf Clubs. It has a long history of successfully helping to produce top class players and champions and we are proud to be associated with it."

The Peter Cowen Academy Junior Tour became associated with the Union at the beginning of the year. Our link will provide a ready pool of juniors eager to test themselves in competitive environments and learn more about the game. The academy has helped support the Union by contributing to the splendid new kit the junior and senior teams will sport this season.

Driving Golf PR & Marketing is a new Sheffield-based business offering full marketing services to the region’s golf clubs helping them attract new members and increase green fees.

SUGU executive member Andy Waple, responsible for press and marketing, welcomed the new sponsors.

He said: “It is very encouraging that our sponsors understand the value of amateur golf and we very much appreciate their backing. We urge all clubs and their members to return their support by considering using their products and services.”
