Sheffield Union of Golf Clubs

DISAPPOINTING FINALE BUT STILL A GREAT SEASON FOR THE JUNIORS

Unfortunately, the dream double proved to be elusive this time around as the youngsters finished third, just four shots behind rivals, The Leeds Golf Union.

Played this year at Halifax Bradley Hall GC, proceedings were immediately thrown into disarray as heavy early morning rain flooded the course making play impossible and forcing the organisers to reduce the championship to just a one round event.

With six players in each team and all scores to count towards the aggregate total, consistency is always the key in this championship and Sheffield managed a very respectable total of 465 which tied the final score of Teesside for quite a while.

Rounds of 79 by James Gregg (Abbeydale GC), 79 by Keelan Lowe (Wheatley GC pictured top), 73 by Nick Poppleton (Wath GC), 75 by Liam Senior (Lees Hall GC pictured above), 80 by Kurtis Keating (Sandhill GC) and 79 by Lewis Thompson (Wath GC pictured below) were never going to be too far away from the winning total but Leeds proved to be too good on the day with an aggregate score of 461.
