PRESIDENT’S DAY FOR CLUB OFFICIALS - THE RAIN FINALLY STOPPED !

The President’s Day for Club Officials has featured in the SUGC calendar for many years and is a means of thanking everyone for the terrific loyalty and support that they give to the Union throughout the golfing season.

On a very well presented course, with penalising rough for anyone who strayed from the fairway, scoring was good and the first team out on the course proved to be the winning team. This team consisted of Don Baptie, Vicky Clarke, Margaret Normington and Alan Mansbridge, they came out on top in this Am-Am competition with a score of 79 points, beating the team consisting of Tony Allsopp (A great round of 67 gross!), Sue Murby, Gary Simpson and Philip Sharman on the back 9!

The President, Trevor Slack, thanked everyone for attending and praised the Captain and officials of his home club for allowing him the opportunity to stage this very enjoyable event at Worksop.

The President also thanked long standing sponsors of SUGC championships and asked for and other individuals or company who may be interested in sponsoring future competitions, to contact the SUGC office.

Next year, this event will be held at Doncaster Golf Club, the home club of the 2013 President, Graham Needham.

A Results Sheet showing the top 5 prize winners can be seen on the website on the CHAMPIONSHIP Page if you scroll down to July 12th and open then PDF Results Sheet.

Congratulations must also go to Alan Marriott (Wath and SUGC Executive) for finishing 1 foot 7 inches (in old money!) from the hole on the 18th Hole to claim the “nearest the pin” prize.
