HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF AFTER BACK-TO-BACK WINS FOR ABBEYDALE

Played on a very challenging Silkstone Golf Club course, this competition for golfers with handicaps between 6 and 12, is played over 18 holes with the scores of all three team members to count.

After winning in 2011, Abbeydale were forced to turn out a completely different team this time and their aggregate gross score of 239 was just too good for the rest of the field. Fine individual scores of 76 from Tim Banks and 77 from Steve Barker were backed up by a workmanlike 86 from Brian Murphy.

Rotherham Golf Club were runners up with a score of 251, followed in third place by Beauchief on 254.

Quite remarkably in 1977 and 1978, Abbeydale also recorded back-to-back wins in this championship and have now won the Second Teams Championship fourteen times in total.
