ANOTHER CHALLENGING WIN

Our YIDU Senior team battled hard to win 21 -15 against Leeds but not before a number of alarms.

We won the foursomes, if not at first, eventually fairly comfortably, but the singles were a different matter. Very unfortunately Richard Hodgkinson had to forfeit his match, having suffered severe back pain on the 6th tee. As the rest of the players passed through the 11th green it was touch and go whether they would manage to achieve the required wins for us to stay ahead. Matt Evans, Luke Palmowski, Tim Brind achieved very creditable wins, as did captain Neil Stones at the back of the afternoon field. The final calculation showed that Sam Rook held on to win 3 and 2, Kier Stockdale turned A/S into 1up from the 15th hole including emerging from a bunker to hole a testing final par putt on the last green, and Jamie Harrison after being 3 down with 7 to play achieved A/S on the 18th. These latter results pushed us 'over the line'.

Well done, the Barmy Army, - that makes three wins on home courses against very strong opposition. Next up are three away matches at Middlesbrough (9 July), Beverley (6 August) and Halifax West End (3 September).
