SECRETARIES COMP STARTS SEASON

Dore & Totley's new secretary Chris Cuttler quickly made a name for himself with an astonishing opening 8 holes at Worksop in a start that local hero Lee Westwood himself would have been proud of.

Playing in the annual Club Secretaries' & Officials fixture, the 5-handicapper ripped the course to pieces from the outset. He followed two opening pars with a birdie on the tricky par 3 3rd hole, notched another par on the 4th before going on the rampage with birdie, albatross and eagle on the next consecutive holes. That gave him a total of 22 points after 8 holes, before he let his teamates get a look in.

Needless to say the team, pictured below, of Chris, Worksop's secretary Alan Manbridge, Waterfront's past Captain Andrew Oliver and SUGC President Daran Johnson took the prize for the winning team.  Unfortunately Chris had to dash back to his club for a board meeting and missed the photo, presentation and the chance to relive his round over dinner.

2nd team was Trevor Slack (Worksop) Andy Waple (Hallamshire) Shayne Tuxford (Bondhay) Graham Billups (Roundwood) and

3rd was Bob Hill (Hallamshire) Steve Bell (Sitwell Park) Roy Dexter (Worksop) Graham Needham (SUGC Secretary).

Below is a photo of the winning team's card.
